Composite PET cards
Composite PET cards are a combination of PVC (copolymer polyvinyl chloride sheets) and PET (Oriented Polyester), providing greater flex strength, tear strength and higher heat resistance than regular PVC cards. A composite PET card can be manufactured with varying percentages of a PVC/PET ratio. The higher the PET ratio, the greater the extended life of the card. For example, a Composite PET card with a 60%PVC/40% PET combination, can have a shelf life of up to 10 years.
Composite PET cards make the ideal choice for extended use applications such as driver’s licenses and identification cards that require more durability and hands-on usage.
For contact or contactless smart cards utilizing Composite PET cards is recommended as the embedded chip is laminated within the PVC core, with the exterior protected by PET.
