Machine Readable Passports (MRP’s) are commonly used today, enabling faster processing times and more accurate readability than traditional passports since they are automatically read by a machine versus the human eye. With a machine readable passport, data is encoded on the identity page using a combination of letters, numbers and chevrons (<<<) known as optical character recognition format.
